About the course:

Opened in 1921, this links-style private course, designed by noted architect Seth Raynor, is characterized by spectacular views, often-brisk winds, fast, undulating greens and beautiful conditioning. It is easy to be misled by the seemingly open, flat terrain, but this is a challenging test of golf, especially so when the wind is up and your ball wanders toward the water or knee-high fescue! Water hazards come into play on nine of the holes. Both fairways and greens are bent grass.

The Country Club of Fairfield has been ranked “Best in State” by Golf Digest for several years, most recently for 2005-2006. It is #56 in Golfweek’s Best 100 Classic Courses in the United States for 2008. And MetGolfer ranked Fairfield #10 in their Top 50 courses in the metropolitan area and #1 in CT. Few courses have had the attention of such well-respected golf course architects, with the original design by Seth Raynor and subsequent modifications by A.W. Tillinghast in 1939 and Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1960.
