  • Discover letters from Pequot founders
  • Explore 1894 acquisition ledgers and blueprints
  • View vintage photographs
  • Examine an 1855 passport

Joining the Monroe’s in their efforts to fill the library with the best collections for the community were Mary Catherine Hull Wakeman and the Rev. William Holman. The exhibition will highlight activities, decisions, and purchases made by the Monroe-Wakeman-Holman team as they established the remarkable Special Collections held by Pequot Library today.

Monroe through Europe and the Middle East with photographs taken along the Nile, in Florence’s Duomo, and from the Vatican. Study maps and atlases of their time to trace the Monroe’s expedition. Step back into 19th century Southport and peruse the archives tracing the early days of Pequot’s history.
